Steve Potter Honored

For his contributions, achievements and service over a sustained period of time, Steve Potter was presented with the Tracy Fly Fishers Lifetime Achievement and Service Award at this year’s Installation Dinner.  Steve has been a longtime member of the Club reaching back to its beginnings.  Steve has held numerous leadership positions including Raffle Chair, Programs Chair, Vice President and Secretary and as the Club’s President.  He is also a three-time awardee of the President’s Fly Fisher of the Year award.

Steve’s contributions, achievements and service go well beyond the walls of the Club.

As many of you know, Steve is an accomplished fly tier whose creations using deer hair are simply extraordinary.  Steve represents the Club at fly tying expositions in California, Oregon, Idaho and Montana and always draws a crowd at his tying station.  Steve routinely donates his “works of art” to club meeting raffles and the annual Installation Dinner’s raffles and auctions.

Steve is a retired veteran of the United States Navy where he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer.  However, his service did not end there.  Steve is an avid supporter of the Veterans First Fly Fishing program that takes “healing veterans” on fly fishing trips.  Steve also spends countless hours of his personal time providing fly tying instructions at our local Veteran’s Hospitals.

Congratulations Steve!  You are truly a fly fisherman’s FISHERMAN!!
